A QUAD bike rider has been arrested or dangerous driving after police filmed his behaviour from an unmarked police car in Eccleshill.

The rider was interviewed after the incident on Monday and has now been bailed to allow police investigations to continue.

Officers were on evening patrol in an unmarked car when they saw a quad bike being ridden at speed and performing 'wheelies' in Swain House Road and Kings Road.

They were able to film the offending and a black car then appeared, with both racing along Kings Road, stopping on Bolton Lane, with police stating the driving was dangerous and put others at risk.

The black car made off, but officers were able to arrest the quad rider and seized the bike because it had been subject to a police warning made weeks earlier.

A police spokesman said: “ We’re not normally in a position to witness this kind of driving first hand as when motorists normally see the police they drive appropriately but today we blended in with everyone else and managed to safely follow the vehicle and record the manner of driving at the same time. “
