A WOMAN who alleges a doctor sexually abused her 30 years ago when she was a young girl broke down in the witness box at Bradford Crown Court as she insisted she was telling the truth.

Retired Bradford GP, Ahmed Masood, denies six charges of indecently assaulting the woman when she was aged between seven and ten.

Masood, 71, of Lampards Close, Allerton, Bradford, is accused of repeatedly molesting her at his home and in staff quarters at Airedale General Hospital.

He is said to have told the terrified child her parents would drop dead if she did not keep quiet.

The jury has been told that Masood was a "charming and charismatic" doctor, working at hospitals, and then as a GP at The Surgery, Bertram Road, Manningham, and, from 2006, Whetley Hill Medical Centre, on Saplin Street.

The woman, in her late 30s, says he first sexually assaulted her when she went to his house to feed the cats while his wife was away in India.

She alleges he stopped on the way to buy her sweets and to rent a pornographic video for them to watch.

He molested her on the sofa and then sexually abused her on a bed upstairs, after washing her with a jug of water, she claims.

Years later, she realised he had also indecently assaulted her at the hospital after visiting it with her mother and recalling the corridors, the jury heard.

Today, Masood's barrister, Katherine Pierpoint, suggested that none of the allegations were true.

Giving evidence behind a screen, the complainant said: "What I remember was very, very clear, very."

Miss Pierpont put it to her: "The idea that you were going out on these numerous trips, just the two of you, doesn't fit in with the way you were being brought up."

She suggested the woman had lived in a culture where a man would not spend time on his own with a young girl.

The witness says she was taken out by Masood many times.

Miss Pierpont said Masood never took her to the hospital and she went to his home once, at her request, to feed the cats.

The woman wept when she told the jury she was too afraid to speak out as a child because Masood said her parents would die if she did.

She said she pulled faces behind his back as a teenager to cope with what he had done to her.

The trial continues.
