MANY revellers played it safe at Bingley Music Live today with the festival ‘uniform’ of Hunter wellies.
They needn’t have bothered though, because whatever the weather had threatened on Friday by this afternoon Myrtle Park was in the grip of an Indian summer.
If glorious weather alone wasn’t enough to secure success for the festival, then headliners the Pet Shop Boys made sure the crowds went home satisfied with a rendition of their evergreen electronic pop and an impressive stage show as the daylight faded.
This year’s festival may have been the busiest yet, said organiser Lee O’Hanlon. Though staff still have to work out exactly how many attended, it is believed to have been close to its 15,000 capacity today.
But despite the festival’s increasing reputation as part of the summer circuit there is little question of it outgrowing its Myrtle Park home.
The Pet Shop Boys are arguably the biggest name the festival has so far attracted, Mr O’Hanlon said.

The electro duo of Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe performed favourites like West End Girls, Always On My Mind and Go West.
Saturday was also rounded off in spectacular fashion with a crowd pleasing set from chart topping rapper/singer Example. Having honed his performances on recent arena tours, the superstar headlined the bill with a show that featured a glut of top 10 hits.
