A SUPERMARKET worker has walked free from court after being cleared of an under-age sex charge.

Kamran Ali, of Shay Crescent, Heaton, Bradford, was found not guilty by a jury at Bradford Crown Court today after a three-day trial over an accusation he had sexual activity with a child on January 28, 2013.

He had denied the offence.

Mr Ali (pictured), who was 24 at the time of the allegation, told the jury he had been shocked and lost for words when he was arrested for having sex with the 13-year-old girl who was truanting from school.

He said he believed the girl was at least 17 when he booked them into the Travelodge in Bradford city centre after they had messaged on Facebook.

Mr Ali said she had asked to be his girlfriend and they had walked to the hotel at her suggestion.

He told the jury she looked about 17 on her Facebook photo and had never mentioned she was at school.
