AN Armed Forces charity has received a boost from cycle fans who rode to Paris for the finale of the Tour de France.

Three cyclists from the Bradford area and their friends rode to Paris to watch the end of the world’s most famous bike race.

Robert Brown, 29, rode from Menston to Paris covering nearly 500 miles in five days. Luke Waterhouse, from Birkenshaw, and Steven Birch, from Menston, cycled from London to Paris in just one day with their friends Simon Watts and James Ashworth. They completed the 260 mile journey in just 21 hours.

The group met upp just outside Paris and cycled to the Champs Elysee. The Tour de France finished the next day on the same street.

“We all bought matching Timothy Taylor’s cycling jerseys because it’s our favourite beer,” said Luke. “On the Champs Elysee, several tourists mistook us for a professional cycling team!”

The trip raised £738 for Help for Heroes.
