THE JURY in the trial of a man accused of murdering his wife with a claw hammer was today retiring to consider its verdict.
Danish Irfam, 22, killed Ridda Zanab with at least ten forceful blows to the head while she was in bed at their home in Alford Terrace, Lidget Green, Bradford, on November 3 last year.
He admits the manslaughter of 21-year-old Mrs Zanab but denies her murder.
After killing his wife, Irfan fled the country on a false passport but returned voluntarily in February.
Yesterday afternoon, the trial judge, Mr Justice Stuart-Smith, concluded his summing up of the case at Bradford Crown Court.
The jury was set to begin its deliberations just after 10am today.
The trial continues.
