Ilkley Grammar School’s very own table tennis superstar put on a show for her fellow pupils.
Kate Nixon, who is ranked fifth in the world in her age group, joined former table tennis national champion Mark Smith for an exciting display of rallies, spinning and fast-hitting.
It was part of a visit to the school by Focus TT, a specialist table tennis company, who explained the fun, hard work, training and challenges involved in the sport.
Hilary Ravensdale, head of physical education at the school, said: "We are extremely proud of Kate. To be able to show some of the younger students just how good she is was an opportunity we couldn’t miss. Maybe we even inspired some of them to give her a run for her money in the coming years!"
Kate, 14, first picked up a table tennis bat at primary school. She has represented England in various international junior events.
Mark launched Focus TT in 2010 to share his knowledge and enthusiasm for the game.
