CROWDS basked in the sunshine in City Park on Saturday, as Bradford’s Urban Festival, a celebration of street youth culture, drew to a close.

The weather took a distinct turn for the worse before the headline artists, the British contemporary circus company Cirque Bijou, took to the stage, but it didn’t dampen the mood as they performed Project 3Sixty, a show that mixed circus skills with extreme sports, breakdance and live music, to a still enthusiastic audience.

Earlier in the day, attractions included BMX displays, freestyle dance groups, street art and poetry, as daring volunteers lay on the ground to be hurdled by freerunning and parkour performers.

Jamie Wardley, of the Bradford-based Sand In Your Eye sculpture group, said visitors enjoyed investigating the 3D art piece We Are Human.

“It’s gone down a storm and we’ve had loads of interest with people asking what it is,” he said.

“It’s been a lovely day and it’s a beautiful venue here with all the fountains and everything.

“The atmosphere has been really nice.”
