ECCAPOLOGIST Antony Britton is coming back to Bradford with another death-defying stunt.

Bradford-born Mr Britton amazed crowds of up to 500 people last year in City Park when he escaped a burning steel cage with just seconds to spare and next month he will be making a dramatic return.

The daredevil has got the go ahead to fill City Park with the wow factor on Saturday, August 9 from noon, making it a magic day for visitors of all ages.

Last year's stunt with Lucifer's Chamber and explosives raised funds for Help for Heroes - this year it is the turn of the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

About 11 bands and acts will be performing live on the day, there will be a bar and wandering magicians and illusionists performing close-up.

Acts will include Morgan Strebler, direct from stage in Las Vegas and US TV fame, Bradford mentalist PeterTurner, another act juggling chainsaws and British magician Wayne Dobson, who had his own ITV magic show in the 1980s and performed at the Royal Variety Show before being diagnosed with MS.

The exact time still has to be fixed for Mr Britton's stunt, where he will be suspended more than 20ft above city park on burning ropes while in a straitjacket and shackled with just 90 seconds to get free.

"It'll probably be about seven or eight o'clock so it's still early enough for families. It's up to parents to decide whether it's suitable for their young children but it's going to be a day that will leave people amazed.

"We're hoping for scorching weather so we can have a pool party - the better the weather, the higher up I'll be suspended!"

All the performers are giving their time free but there are expenses to pay said Mr Britton who is hoping Bradford Council will dig deep and give some funding.

Mr Britton 's Lucifer's Chamber stunt had to be called off because of a struggle to find funding but it eventually went ahead when the council department responsible for events at City Park agreed to fast-track a £1,500 donation to enable the Escape For Life stunt to go ahead.

"I'm keeping my fingers crossed the council will help out again and give us some funding. This will be a great event that will bring crowds into the city," said Mr Britton.
