NEXT year’s Armed Forces Day in Keighley will be bigger and better than ever, says its organiser.

Andy Spence said he would build on this year’s family activities provided by military groups and charities in Cliffe Castle Park.

Mr Spence said he was happy with the outcome of the first-ever fun day held recently to honour Keighley men and women serving in the Armed Forces.

Mr Spence said his team would now set up a Keighley Armed Forces Association so they could apply for bigger grants for next year’s event.

He said: “We plan to really push the boat out next year, depending on funding. We hope to find sponsors.

“I’m hoping get an old aircraft or a display team. And we hope to work with the cadets to do something else in the future.”

Several Keighley traders provided free food for the fun day, and Keighley Bus Museum provided transport for veterans from the town hall square to Cliffe Castle,
