A FAMILY of five had to abandon their car after it burst into flames while they were travelling through Bradford.

All occupants of the Vauxall Zafira escaped safely after smoke started to enter the cabin through air vents at about 5pm today and the vehicle was engulfed in flames within minutes.

Firefighters from the Fairweather Green station tackled the incident in Wheater Road, Lidget Green. The cause remains under investigation but it is believed to be accidental.
