Young people from South Craven School have shown off their ability to speak effectively in public.

They took part in a public speaking event organised by Skipton Rotary Club. Their English teacher entered two teams in the contest, both of which performed well.

A spokesman for the Cross Hills school said: “Our year nine team chose the subject of ‘Body Language’. “They discussed the problems that both men and women face, when they are under so much pressure to achieve the ‘perfect’ figure.

“Our year seven and eight team discussed the topic ‘Style over Substance’ and looked at the pressures on young people to conform.”
