Chief executives might normally be expected to be office-bound but Geraldine Howley will be leaving her desk behind today to help revamp a community centre.

Mrs Howley is group chief executive with Incommunities and will be joining other staff from the organisation to brighten up the Gateway Centre in Ravenscliffe, Bradford, as part of the Business in the Community’s Give and Gain Day.

Their challenge is to decorate the main hall, weed and clean paths outside, create a seating area and repair a large wooden planter.

Toby Heslop, from Incommunities’ HR team said: “We have been set a big challenge but everyone is eager to get stuck in.”

Mrs Howley added: “I am really looking forward to joining other community volunteers and helping to brighten up the centre.

“At Incommunities we have a proud track record of supporting community-based projects.”
