The annual search has begun to find Bradford’s super tenants who improve lives and the neighbourhoods where they live.

Incommunities 2014 star awards will recognise a wide range of talents, seeking both those who play an active role in making their communities a better place and people with fresh ideas for the future.

Incommunities’ assistant chief executive for Neighbourhood Services, Adrienne Reid, said: “Our 2014 Star Awards promise to be bigger and better than ever. These awards are all about celebrating our caring and talented tenants who work so hard to improve the lives of others and their neighbourhoods.

“We are particularly keen to see lots of great entries from our younger customers with two award categories aimed at celebrating the contribution they make to brightening up life in their communities.”

A ceremony is planned for September at the Hilton Hotel in Bradford. Jonathan Moseley, an award-winning floral designer currently a judge on the BBC 2 show The Big Allotment Challenge, and Look North presenter Harry Gration will be guests.

The social housing landlord is looking for nominations in seven categories. They include the ‘makeover’ category, which is for those who have breathed new life into their home, garden or community area, which should be submitted with before and after photographs.

The ‘individual garden/display’ category will recognise the green fingered work of one person, while the ‘communal garden’ award will celebrate a group effort for gardening outside a sheltered housing scheme or flats complex.

The ‘kids corner’ is for the under 16s who grow their own vegetables, plant flowers or get involved in other clean-up work.

All entries to those categories should include a photograph to illustrate the nomination.

Meanwhile, other categories will cover the best ‘rising star’ to recognise tenants aged under 21 who have succeeded in overcoming personal barriers or have made special efforts to help others in their community.

The ‘star team or employee’ award will focus on either a team of colleagues or individual, employed by Incommunities, who have made a positive difference to other people’s lives. Those wanting to make nomination can e-mail starawards@incommunities.co.uk, collect a form from the organisation’s offices, call (01274) 254104 or visit this story on the T&A website for a link to a nomination page.

Nominations must be submitted by Friday, July 18.
