People are being urged to get out on the water to mark National Watersports Month.

Two sailing clubs in the district are among hundreds across the country opening their doors and inviting people to try out their activities, as part of the Royal Yachting Association’s Push the Boat Out initiative.

Jackie Bennetts, RYA Club Support Advisor, said: “We would like to encourage everyone to head down to their local club and have a go at sailing or windsurfing alongside experienced sailors. We have more than 200 sailing clubs across the UK offering a range of fantastic activities and you can find out just how easy and affordable it is to get involved.

"Although getting wet isn’t guaranteed, bring a change of clothes just in case and everything else will be provided by the venue. You never know, you might even get hooked.”
