Volunteer radio presenters in Bradford are gearing up for a 30-hour radiothon to raise money for a hospital station.

St Luke's Sound, which entertains patients and staff at St Luke's Hospital, will broadcast non-stop from 10am on June 19 to 4pm on June 20.

During the two-day event, visitors, patients and staff will be able to take part in a music quiz with the chance of winning a cash prize.

Fundraising activities will also be happening in the hospital’s main Horton Wing to spread thewordabout the stationand hopefully attract some new prsenters.

The station is asking Bradford companies to sponsor the event,.

All funds raised will be spent on maintaining and improving St Luke’s Sound’s service, its secretary David Rathmell said: “We’ve run radiothons in the past and they have always been well supported so we are hoping that our 2014 event will be as successful as those we have run previously.

“We really hope the local community will get behind the volunteers and celebrate this service that we provide at St Luke’s. As well as the music we play, we see the radio station as a way of keeping patients and staff informed of what’s happening in and around the hospital.”

Businesses willing to support the evcent should contact the station’s chairman Jack Worsnop on (01274) 881861.
