A ward councillor has said he would be supporting a scheme to improve a busy road to make it safer for cyclists.
Craven councillor Adrian Naylor said the £10,000 initiative for Skipton Road –between Steeton and Eastburn – was due to be discussed at a meeting of Keighley Area Committee.
He said if the necessary money is earmarked, it could mean new road markings and additional signage. He added that cyclists have previously been killed or seriously injured on this road.
“It would be good if this can be implemented, especially in the year that the Tour de France is coming,” he said. “The focus is also on casualty reduction because the new integrated national authority that allocates money to be spent wants 70 per cent of all road projects to focus on cutting numbers of casualties.”
