Ilkley Grammar School raised £2,300 for Sport Relief.

Students paid to dress in sport-themed non-uniform, and also bought tickets to watch teachers take on the post-16 basketball team.

Teacher Tim Milburn promised to wear a tutu if students raised £200. If they could raise £500 he said he would wax his legs. In the end, students raised £2,319 – beating their total last year of £1,518. The students also won 48-16. Head teacher Gillian James said: “It never ceases to amaze me just how generous our students, staff and parents can be.”

Mr Milburn, who will run in the London Marathon for the charity Get Kids Going, said: “I’m not sure which was more painful, the months of training in wintery conditions or having my legs waxed!”
