Train operator Northern Rail is working with the charity, Marie Curie Cancer Care, to support its annual Great Daffodil Appeal.

A collection day took place at Ilkley Railway Station yesterday and further collections will take place at stations across the district in support of the appeal, which runs throughout March and April. It sees volunteers selling daffodil pins to raise awareness and money to fund Marie Curie nursing care for people with terminal illnesses.

This year, Northern has pledged its support to the charity and will see its employees selling the pins at more than 20 stations across its network, including Ilkley.

Alex Hynes, managing director of Northern, said: “We are delighted to support the Great Daffodil Appeal this year and our Northern employees will be out in force to raise as much money as they can for this fantastic cause.”
