A new £90 million package of Government funding to improve dementia diagnosis and reduce waiting times has been welcomed by Keighley MP Kris Hopkins.

“Dementia is a horribly debilitating condition which is familiar to so many of us who have witnessed its effects on close relatives,” he said.

“Diagnosis rates differ across the country, from a few weeks in some places to up to six months in others, and that is simply wrong.

NHS England is committed to addressing this unacceptable situation to ensure that dementia sufferers, no matter where they live, receive a timely assessment and the compassionate care they rightly expect.

“As well as leading the world in the quest to find a care for this most distressing disease, we want this country to become the best possible place for dementia sufferers to be properly looked after.”
