Disability sports day in Bradford is hailed a success
7:00am Monday 17th March 2014 in News
Sports and activities were on offer at a successful event in Bradford for people with disabilities.
The Disability Fun Day – opened by the Lord Mayor of Bradford Councillor Khadim Hussain – featured cycling, athletics, boccia, cricket, football and new age curling.
There was also a bouncy castle, Wii Fit, a fire engine, Jamie’s Ministry of Food, and cafe. The free event, at Richard Dunn Sports Centre, Odsal, was for people with disabilities or additional support needs.
One of the organisers, Andrew Lane, of West Yorkshire Sport, said the event had gone “spectacularly well.” The number of people who attended, which was between 60 and 70, surpassed expectations and was many more than the number who had registered in advance.
The wide age range of those who attended was also a factor that pleased the organisers.
