Firefighters will visit Bradford Royal Infirmary to chat to children facing surgery.
Youngsters on the day surgery ward will be able to ask fire crews from Fairweather Green station about their job when they visit the hospital on Tuesday.
Watch manager Mark Hemingway said: “We are really looking forward to this visit and hopefully the chance to come face-to-face with a firefighter will be quite exciting for the youngsters on what could otherwise be a nervous day for them as they face surgery.
“While tackling fires is our primary role there are also many parts of our job, entailing all sorts of rescues, that people are sometimes less aware of. This will be a chance to build links with the community, talk about what we do and spread our safety messages in a fun way.”
Children’s Matron Denise Stewart said: “Our patients really look forward to special visits like this from the firefighters.”
