A number of staff have been suspended at an Ilkley care home while investigations take place into allegations about safeguarding issues.

Independent regulator the Care Quality Commission (CQC) was called in to carry out an inspection at Troutbeck Care Home, in Crossbeck Road, this month and is now working with other organisations including Bradford Council.

The home confirmed in a statement it had suspended several members of staff pending an investigation into allegations “of a safeguarding nature”.

The home’s manager is not among those suspended, it said.

A spokesman said: “We can confirm that senior managers and staff are working closely with CQC and local authorities in line with company and local authority policy.”

The CQC says it is working with other agencies to monitor and ensure the safety and well-being of all residents.

Bradford Council, meanwhile, is working with care providers to ensure an action plan submitted to the CQC is being followed.

The home, which provides accommodation for up to 70 people, is run by the Leeds-based Maria Mallaband Care Group. It provides palliative and respite care and day care, as well as nursing.

Malcolm Bower-Brown, the CQC’s regional director for the north, said: “CQC is aware of concerns raised regarding Troutbeck Care Home in Ilkley and these issues are subject to ongoing investigations with adult services, which is liaising closely with the Council’s adult protection unit.

“We are in close liaison with all relevant agencies to continue to monitor the situation carefully to ensure the safety and well-being of all residents.”

A spokesman for Bradford Council said: “We are aware of the recent inspection completed by the Care Quality Commission to Troutbeck Nursing Home in Ilkley and have been liaising with the care providers to ensure the action plan submitted to CQC is being followed.

“Senior managers from the home are ensuring residents and families are aware of the current concerns and are working towards the home becoming compliant again within agreed timescales.”
