One of the Department for Education’s top employees has visited Shipley College to see how students with learning difficulties are helped in their studies.
The college welcomed Chris Wormald (right), the Permanent Secretary for the Department for Education.
Shipley College ran a successful Supported Internship Programme trial last year, with 90 per cent of the interns securing employment following the programme. Mr Wormald met principal Nav Chohan and David Cockett, head of learning support, before meeting the internship co-ordinators, interns and their employers. He then visited the sites of two employers involved: Ortho-Care, in Saltaire, and the Midland Hotel, in Bradford.
