A community stalwart, described as a ‘gentle giant’, has had a special room named in his memory.
Ravenscliffe Community Association held a memorial event for John Rawnsley, who died earlier this year, to dedicate the room and unveil a mural painted by a volunteer.
Mr Rawnsley, who was 80, was a director and past president of the association and now the John Rawnsley Room, at the Gateway Centre in Thackeray Road, Bradford, will be a constant reminder of the work he did.
Mr Rawnsley spent more than two decades serving communities around Thorpe Edge and Ravenscliffe. He got involved in community work in 1991 when he came to the area and was asked to help with electrical work for the Thorpe Edge Festival.
