Bradford Council is speaking to “appropriate agencies” to make sure extremists do not get a foothold in the district’s schools.
Birmingham Council is investigating claims of a ‘dirty tricks’ campaign against head teachers. The probe started after letters were leaked to the council, containing claims of an extremist plot called Operation Trojan Horse.
The letters have yet to be authenticated but they detail plans to remove non-Muslim head teachers from posts through smear campaigns and replace them with Muslim extremists.
The letters are alleged to be correspondence between a Birmingham individual and someone in Bradford, and discuss spreading the plot to Bradford and Manchester. Councillor Ralph Berry, executive for children’s services at Bradford Council, said agencies were being spoken to and added: “We are aware of the situation but there have been no significant issues raised in Bradford so far.”
