A collapsed manhole at a major roundabout caused misery on the roads yesterday.
The manhole, at the Dudley Hill roundabout on Sticker Lane, had collapsed on Tuesday because of wear and tear.
On Tuesday lunchtime, Bradford Council reported the problem to Yorkshire Water, which maintains the manhole.
Yorkshire Water’s engineers assessed the damage and closed a lane, but could not start work immediately because a specialist part needed to be ordered in, a spokesman said.
Repairs then got underway yesterday, but throughout the day the lane closure on Sticker Lane and Wakefield Road caused major tailbacks.
The repairs were finished yesterday, but a smaller section of Sticker Lane had to be kept closed as the road surface set.
It is expected to reopen today.
