Trains passing through Shipley have been delayed today after a member of staff was verbally abused by a passenger.
Northern Rail said the 4.01pm service between Bradford Forster Square and Leeds was stopped at Shipley while staff waited for a security team to apprehend the abusive customer.
A spokesman for Northern Rail said: “The incident involved an off-duty member of staff and a customer on the train. It will be investigated.”
The customer fled the train and ran off before the security team arrived.
Subsequent trains through Shipley have experienced delays or changes as a result of the incident, including the 4.16pm Bradford to Ilkley service which was delayed by 21 minutes.
