Shipley MP Philip Davies greeted players calling for a cut in bingo duty who travelled to Downing Street to hand in a petition.

He joined Hackney South and Shoreditch MP Meg Hillier to meet The Bingo Association as it handed in the document, with more than 300,000 signatures.

The Boost Bingo campaign aims to cut duty from 20 per cent to 15 per cent.

Its chief executive Miles Baron said: “If bingo duty is lowered from 20 per cent to 15 per cent, the industry as a whole has committed to substantial investment in modernisation and jobs.”

The Association also organised a celebratory march.
