Art and community projects undertaken by Bradford Cathedral are being highlighted in two Songs of Praise programmes filmed there.
Two programmes for the BBC’s religious series have been filmed at the Cathedral, with Sir Tom Courtenay giving readings at both.
In the programmes presenter Pam Rhodes (pictured) interviews textile designer Polly Meynell, who talks about the Cathedral’s new textile project featuring images of Bradford’s industrial and rural heritage.
Polly is using locally-sourced fabrics and threads and working people of other faiths and cultures to do some of the stitching.
Both programmes feature the Cathedral choir, with youngsters from local schools singing alongside the adults.
The Dean, the Very Reverend Jerry Lepine, said: “At a time when Bradford is feeling energised by the regeneration in the city centre it was exciting that the Cathedral played host to the BBC for these two Songs of Praise programmes.
The first programme featuring Bradford Cathedral, as well as locations in the city centre and around the district, will be broadcast on Sunday, March 2 and the second will be on Palm Sunday, April 13,
