Bradford’s Chinese School celebrated the start of its new year with lion dancing, Beijing opera and Chinese folk songs at a cracker of a celebration this weekend.
The Year of the Horse was marked by an afternoon of entertainment at Bradford Grammar School where the city’s Chinese School is based.
Part of the schedule was a performance by talented 16-year-old pianist Yuanfan Yang, who was the grand finalist and keyboard category winner of BBC young musicians 2012.
Bradford Chinese School is a charitable establishment with about 70 pupils, aged five to 15, teaching them language and culture.
All the proceeds from Saturday’s ticket event went to support New Sight Congo – a non-profit making group making eye surgery happen in the Congo.
