A new generation of Bradfordians has taken up the challenge of helping some of the world’s most at-risk people.

Farnham Primary School in Lidget Green is home to Bradford’s first junior rotary club, which has been set up in partnership with the Bradford West Rotary Club.

Rotary is an organisation with more than 1.2 million members, and is involved in projects to benefit people across the world.

In the event of a natural disaster, rotary clubs are often some of the first to send aid to the most hard-hit areas, as well as projects to improve their local communities.

There has been a push to get the next generation involved to make sure the movement has a strong future.

Representatives of the Rotary club visited the school, where the “Rotakids” presented them with a cheque for more than £700, which will go towards aid for survivors of Typhoon Haiyan in the Phillipines.

The school’s group is made up of 16 children aged between seven and 12, although the entire school gets involved in activities.
