Police who uncovered an ‘Aladdin’s cave’ of stolen loot in Bradford, including pressure washers, a chainsaw, battery-powered golf caddies and a cement mixer, are now looking for their rightful owners.

Over £50,000 worth of goods were recovered from an industrial unit in Low Moor earlier this month, and a man has since been arrested.

Although some items, including two trial bikes, have since been claimed, police say the owners of the vast majority of the goods have yet to be identified. They have widened their enquiries beyond Bradford to include Leeds and even outside of West Yorkshire, and are asking anyone who has been burgled in the past year to get in touch.

Police executed a warrant on the unit on January 5, using thermal cutting devices to gain entry.

Once inside, they found a collection of swag they have compared to a conveyor belt of prizes on TV game show The Generation Game.

Among the unclaimed items are three battery-powered golf caddies, a circular saw, six lawnmowers, two generators, a cement mixer, triple ladders, a pneumatic compressor, three leaf blowers, a jackhammer, three pressure washers, a pair of golf shoes, two high value mountain bikes, seven strimmers, a wallpaper steamer, two tyres, golf clubs, cycling shoes and a jigsaw.

PC Lisa Common, of the Tong and Wyke Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “We believe that some of these items may have been taken in burglaries committed out of the area, possibly even outside of West Yorkshire.

“I would ask anyone who has been the victim of a burglary in the last 12 months in the Leeds or North Yorkshire area, to contact us with as much information they have about items they have had stolen, as well as any crime numbers they have been given.

“The more information you can provide, the better the chance we will be able to identify it.”

Burglary victims who think some of these items could belong to them have been advised to contact the NPT on 101.

The man arrested over the find is currently on bail pending further inquiries.
