Candle holders, peppermint creams and tasty buns were among an array of home-made items sold by children at Bradford Academy for Shelter.

Two classes of year one pupils at the school raised £219.83 for the homeless charity by getting creative and making or baking their own goods to sell on stalls during a fair.

About 60 students were involved in the fundraising, which also saw them sell toys and books that had been donated.

Teacher Sarah Hawksworth said: “The children worked extremely hard to plan and run our fundraising event.

“We are very proud of them and would like to thank everyone who came and supported the event meaning that we can now give over £200 to this worthwhile cause.”
