A 12-year-old girl has been thanked for helping to add £330 to a charity’s kitty.

Bingley Grammar School pupil Emily Sawyer made signs and sold raffle tickets at Dial a Vac in Thornton Road, Bradford, to support Allerton Cat Rescue.

With the help of her mum, Katie Smith, she raised £330.84.

Raffle ticket number 151 won a Henry vacuum in the draw.

Emily presented a cheque to Brenda Satterley, who founded the charity.

Mrs Satterley, who last month won a lifetime achievement award at the Telegraph & Argus Community Stars Awards for her charity work with cats, said she was thrilled.

She thanked Emily and said the money would be put to good use on the vet’s bill.
