An elderly man suffered a head injury after being in collision with a car in Queensbury tonight.

The man, believed to be aged in his early 80s, was taken to Bradford Royal Infirmary for treatment. He was initially being taken to hospital in Leeds.

The collision happened on Scarlet Heights, near its junction with Stoneleigh, at about 7.40pm.

A police spokesman said the man, who is believed to live in Queensbury, had suffered a cut to his head, but added it was too soon to say how serious his injuries were.

He added that the driver of the car involved had remained at the scene.

The car was a green Toyota people carrier that was heading in the direction of Bradford.
