A 24-year-old man has been banned from driving for 12 months and ordered to pay £393 in fines and costs after he was caught drink-driving on December 14.
Thomas Jeffery, of Hallowes Grove, Cullingworth, pleaded guilty to the offence at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
The court heard he was stopped by police at 2.15am on Sunningdale Crescent, Cullingworth, and found to have 53 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.
The court heard he had no previous convictions and was stopped because of his “panicked” expression when he saw the police vehicle.
Jeffery apologised to the court and said he had been sleeping and thought he had woken legally able to drive.
He was fined £280 and ordered to pay a surcharge and costs, totalling £393.
