CHIC's Nile Rodgers sends out Christmas message to fans for Bingley Music Live welcome

Bradford Telegraph and Argus: Nile Rodgers Nile Rodgers

Music superstar Nile Rodgers of CHIC has recorded an exclusive ‘Happy Holidays’ Christmas message as a thanks to the thousands who attended this year’s Bingley Music Live.

The groundbreaking funksters from New York headlined on Sunday night at the Bradford Council-run festival and led the crowd through some of the biggest disco hits of the 1970s including Le Freak, I Want Your Love, Everybody Dance and Good Times.

They enjoyed their visit so much that Nile and the band’s bass player Jerry Barnes have now recorded a festive message that will be aired on Bingley Music Live’s Facebook page on Christmas Day.

And the unique message will also be viewable on the Telegraph & Argus’s own website from Boxing Day.

Nile’s funky guitar playing was featured on Daft Punk’s Get Lucky, which became the feel-good hit of the summer.

As a sought-after producer, he also worked extensively on Madonna’s Material Girl, Blondie’s Rapture, Duran Duran’s The Reflex and Sister Sledges We Are Family.

Councillor Andrew Thornton, Bradford Council’s executive member responsible for leisure, said: “We would like to thank the members of CHIC for recording this exclusive festive video, which will be a treat for everyone who attended this year’s Bingley Music Live.”

The eighth annual Bingley Music Live will be held in Myrtle Park between Friday, August 29, and August 31 next year.

A limited number of discounted weekend tickets are being offered through the ‘Rockin’ Robin’ initiative.

They are available at £40 (plus booking fee) or £25 (plus booking fee) for child concessions between now and 6pm on Christmas Eve.

This is a £9 saving on the price of standard three-day weekend tickets for Bingley Music Live 2014. They can be bought at bingleymusi clive.com.
