Members of the public are being urged to have their say on proposed cuts to children’s centres.

The proposals set out how the centres would operate in the future, in response to an expected budget reduction of £2.4 million by 2016.

Under the plans, the centres would be divided into three categories – core centres which would run as they are now, satellite centres which would be staffed on a part-time basis, and outreach bases which would be run by volunteers.

A series of events across the district aim to give residents, centre staff and other organisations the opportunity to comment on the plans. There will be translators at many of the consultation events.

The events for members of the public are as follows: Today from 9.30am to 11am at Gateway Children’s Centre, Thackeray Road, Ravenscliffe; Thursday, January 9, from 1pm to 2.30pm at West Bowling Youth Centre, Parkside Road, West Bowling; Thursday, January 9, from 1pm to 4pm at Keighley Library Annexe, Spencer Road, Keighley; Friday, January 10, from 9.30am to 11am at Farnham Road Children’s Centre, Farnham Road, Bradford; Friday, January, 10 from 1pm to 2.30pm at Shipley Town Hall, Kirkgate, Shipley; Monday, January 13, from 9.30am to 11am at Keighley Civic Centre, North Street, Keighley; Monday, January 13, from 1pm to 2.30pm at Future House, Bolling Road, Bradford; and Friday, January 17, from 9.30am to 12.30pm at City Hall, Centenary Square, Bradford.
