Walk in memory of Keith Harrison aids British Heart Foundation
6:00am Saturday 2nd November 2013 in News
A charity walk in memory of a highly respected member of Oakworth Social Club raised £806 for the British Heart Foundation.
The eight-mile trek paid tribute to Keith Harrison, who was also a keen darts player. He died suddenly earlier this year from a heart attack, aged 67.
His friend, Ian Wright, had the idea of organising the walk around Oakworth and surrounding areas.
Mr Wright, along with Mr Harrison’s widow Betty, presented the cheque for £806 to Sue Green from the British Heart Foundation (BHF).
Mr Wright said: “We all know someone who’s been affected by heart disease – sadly it touches us all. It’s great to know that our efforts will make a difference in helping to beat heart disease for good.”
Sue said: “We’d like to thank everyone that took part from the social club, friends and family for organising such a fantastic event and for presenting us with such a generous donation.
“The BHF can only continue its life-saving and life-changing work thanks to money raised from events like this. We urgently need more big hearted people from Oakworth and Keighley to support us.”
