People are being urged to make a will this month as more than half of UK adults do not have one.

Anyone 55 or more can get a will written, or updated, without charge this month as part of Free Wills Month, organised by a group of national charities hoping to secure legacy gifts.

November is also Will Aid Month, another UK-wide charitable scheme that provides basic wills in exchange for a donation to charity. Neil Shaw, partner and head of personal law at Bradford law firm Last Cawthra Feather, said: “Making a will is quite simply the only way you can be sure that your family will inherit your property and possessions.”
