Wind turbine bid by Omega Proteins for Denholme site is set for approval
9:00am Tuesday 24th September 2013 in News
A Denholme company is likely to get the go-ahead to build a 34-metre high wind turbine on its site tomorrow despite fears it could propel foul smells to populated areas.
Omega Proteins, which has an animal rendering plant based at Erling Works, Half Acre Road, will find out if its application for an on-site turbine is successful when the application is decided by Bradford Council’s Keighley Area Planning Panel at 10am.
Numerous residents have objected to the scheme, as has Denholme Town Council and Shipley MP Philip Davies.
Of the fears the structure would send bad smells down the valley, the report says: “A turbine is powered by the wind, but does not power the wind.”
