Otley mum launches children's appeal
10:00am Tuesday 17th September 2013 in News
An appeal to collect gifts for children who will have to spend Christmas in hospital is being held again by an Otley mum.
Mother-of-three Mel Metcalfe gave nearly 600 presents, all donated by Aireborough, Wharfedale and Hosforth residents, to Leeds General Infirmary and St James’s University Hospital last December.
And gifts were also distributed at St Martin's House and Forget Me Not children's hospices.
She said: “The appeal was just too successful not to do it again and this year we are hoping to get enough for all the local hospitals and children’s hospices, so we need to know if there are any others people would like to nominate.
"I would also like to see if any more local schools would like to get involved, and we could set up ‘giving trees’ at schools and businesses.”
