Thomas-Jay Harrington was named winner of Bradford Council’s first Apprentice of the Year award.
The youngster, who is in the second year of his apprenticeship, received a shield, certificate, £200 of vouchers and a tool bag and tools worth £100.
He also scooped awards in two other categories – Outstanding Effort and Best Attendance – at the awards ceremony held at City Hall in Bradford.
A Council spokesman said: “For the Apprentice of the Year the judges took additional criteria into account, including customer feedback, quality of work, and work ethos, among other things, and it was not based on how many categories someone had won.”
Other category winners were: Best Portfolio (in order of year one to year four) – Lewis Perkins, Jack Morrow, Stephen Barnes and Philip Jackson; Most Improved – Luke McCarthy, Ishmael Parke, Stephen Barnes and Kristopher Hackshall; Outstanding Effort – Keiran Young, Nathan Gamble and Philip Jackson; Best Attendance – Arron Kelly, Edward Holliman and Philip Jackson.
