Fire crews battle to save carpet mill after roof collapse
Fire investigators are currently trying to establish the cause of a blaze at a large mill which caused the roof to collapse.
Six fire crews battled the blaze in Liversedge at a mill used to store carpets that went up in flames at 1.41am today.
The fire was at Heckmondwike Fibre Bonding on Huddersfield Road, Millbridge.
A spokesman for the fire service said the building was 100 per cent damaged in the fire. As well as the main mill building, a large yard area containing carpets also caught fire.
Roads around the mill were closed, and crews took around 90 minutes to control the blaze, which hadcaused the building’s roof to collapse. Several fire crews were still at the scene at mid morning.
