A RANGE of musicians, from rappers to bellringers, are the focus of a striking exhibition by Bingley Camera Club.

Bingley Makes Music opened this week, featuring photographs taken over the past year celebrating the “diversity and joy of music in Bingley”.

Running until June 26 at Bingley Arts Centre, it features 20 prints, in windows overlooking Main Street.

Project lead Neil Horsley says: “Our members have had tremendous fun photographing the many musical activities in Bingley. We’re proud to put on this exhibition in our home town and thank the people and organisations who’ve helped, particularly Bingley Arts Centre, Bingley Music Town and Bradford Council.

"We see the exhibition as an invitation to get involved in local music, art, culture and creativity in the lead up to Bradford’s celebration of culture in 2025.”

The Camera Club worked with Bingley Music Town to document various forms of music, including community choirs, local bands and visiting musicians. Images include the Bingley Bellringers, who continue a 350-year tradition at All Saints Church; 16-year-old Brandon Symonds playing the blues in a local bar; the Ostyn Family performing classical favourites; and Hall Royd Band’s fanfare at Bingley Five Rise Locks 250th anniversary.

Says Stephanie Laycock, Chair of Bingley Music Town: “We hope people will visit the exhibition and help us make sure there are great musical opportunities into the future.”

Camera Club president Marcus Rattray adds: “This is the first time, to our knowledge, that retail windows have been used to display public art in Bingley. It was inspired by Impressions Gallery’s outdoor exhibitions, including Picturing Bradford, as a way of engaging with more people.”
